St. John’s United Church is the larger congregation of the two-point Waverley Pastoral Charge. The Ministry & Personnel Committee is the intermediary body between the congregation and the salaried staff of the Charge, and provides for the professional development and training of staff, maintains current job descriptions, and provides yearly performance evaluations. Although the Pastoral Charge is based on the Official Board model for governance, St. John’s uses the Church Council model to handle its own affairs.The Council Executive meets monthly, while the entire Council meets quarterly.
The Pastoral Care Team provides support for the families of those chronically or terminally ill, as well as those coping with bereavement.
The Property Management Division is responsible for all aspects of building and grounds maintentance, safety, and security.
The Stewardship and Finance Division is responsible for receiving and managing the finances for St. John’s United. Special fundrasing projects also fall under this umbrella.
The Worship and Praise Division is responsible for all aspects of worship and use of the sanctuary.
The Membership Division is responsible for welcoming new folks to our church family, as well as maintaining membership rolls and similar records.
The Outreach Division is responsible for encouraging support for various community-based projects, as well as global initiatives. St. John’s United Church actively supports the the ecumenical Jubilee initiative.
The Communication Division produces a quarterly newsletter and maintains this website.
The Christian Development Division is responsible for providing opportunities for Christian education for all ages.
