Pastoral Charge Meeting

   April 29th – 7pm at St. John’s.

The Joint Search Committee will be recommending the Ministerial Candidate for the WPC at that time.

Overview from the Joint Search Committee – Waverley Pastoral Charge 2012

We are very excited that through process and prayer, we have found the candidate who fulfills our Pastoral Charge vision. What an exciting time it is! We feel confident that our chosen candidate has great depth of experience in working with children, youth and seniors alike. This Minister is keen on working with us on our goals of outreach and pastoral care and is widely regarded in the conference as an exceptional worship leader and preacher.

The purpose of the Joint Needs Assessment Committee was to put the vision and needs of the Waverley Pastoral Charge into words. Many of you provided good feedback, answering difficult questions about what it was you felt the Waverley Pastoral Charge needs in a new minister to take the Charge in a particular direction. The work of the Search Committee is to find the best fit for those needs. We are doing that by adhering to the Joint Search Committee handbook, using the research from the Joint Needs Assessment Committee report to follow the direction given to us by the Waverley Pastoral Charge, and letting the Spirit take us where we need to go.

In mid-December, 2011, the Joint Needs Assessment Committee report was passed at a congregational meeting. At that time a Joint Search Committee was struck to begin the process of finding a new Minister for the charge. There was yet one more meeting on January 8th to complete the committee and approve a budget of $5000.

The members of the committee are:

Wellington United St. John’s United

Danny Cox, Lorraine Moore Connie Corkum

Tabitha Cox Rick Fullerton Eric Woolliscroft

Laurie Hingley David Chard

Presbytery Representatives (for this process)

Rev. Helene Burns

Rev. Keltie Van Binsbergen.

Our officers

Chair – Connie Corkum

Secretary – Danny Cox

Corresponding Secretary – Rick Fullerton

The Joint Search Committee held a total of eight meetings, sent more than 150 emails and made countless phone calls. A notice of vacancy was listed on the websites of: St. John’s United Church, Maritime Conference, and the United Church of Canada’s National Vacancy List. Submission of applications closed March 2nd and we received a total of 16 expressions of interest. The Joint Search Committee interviewed the four candidates that most closely fit the Ministry Personnel Description as developed by the Joint Needs Assessment Committee. Our fifth short listed candidate withdrew for personal reasons.

There will be a meeting of the Waverley Pastoral Charge at St. John’s Church on Sunday, April 29th at 7 p.m., at which time we will present our chosen candidate and the members of our charge will vote on our recommendation.
