  Waverley Pastoral Charge is in transition. Rev. Valerie Kingsbury, our minister since 2003, accepted a call to First United Church in Truro, NS beginning in September 2011. Rev. Tom Woods has agreed to serve the Charge until June 30, 2012, by which time we plan to have confirmed who will be with us on a continuing basis. Please read on to learn about what the search process involves.
  Joint Search Committee – Status as of February 12, 2012:

  Applications received:  5; at least one more anticipated.
  Screening of applications has begun
  The Joint Search Committee has not declared an application deadline and continues to welcome candidates. Candidate interviews are planned to commence in early March.
  Joint Search Committee Mandate / Process
  The responsibility for selecting the person to be recommended to fill our ministry position rests with the Joint Search Committee. It consists of eight members elected by the Pastoral Charge plus two Presbytery Representatives. [See below or hot link the list.] The Committee is directed to find and recommend the best candidate to fill the position as defined in the Joint Needs Assessment Report, approved by members of the Pastoral Charge on December 14, 2011.
  The work of the Joint Search Committee is much like what happens in most organizations, and includes publicizing the vacancy, receiving applications, screening candidates, conducting interviews and checking references. The Committee presents its recommendation at a meeting of a Pastoral Charge.

  While the proceedings of the Joint Search Committee are confidential, any member of the Pastoral Charge is invited to suggest names of potential candidates. As well, both St. John’s and Wellington congregations will receive timely information on the selection process and progress updates.
